Acquisition of eNVQ Limited - May 31 2007
Education Development International plc ('EDI' or the 'Group'), the leading provider of accredited qualifications and assessment services, announces that it has acquired Oxford based eNVQ Limited ('eNVQ') which has developed and markets a web-based system for the management, assessment and verification of competence based qualifications and corporate training programmes.
The system has been developed over the past seven years and is aligned to the requirements of training organisations, further education colleges, companies and public authorities who operate government funded apprenticeship programmes and vocational qualifications. Currently over 100 organisations use the system.
eNVQ can make a major contribution to both the quality and administrative efficiency of training programmes. It allows easy communication between learners, employers, training providers and qualifications assessors and verifiers. Learners can build up their training portfolio and receive feedback over the internet throughout their programme and not just at formal reviews.
Commenting on the Acquisition, EDI Chief Executive, Nigel Snook said:
"The eNVQ system is impressive and represents an important addition to our range of web-based services. It will be of real interest to all training organisations and colleges, whether or not they are users of EDI's range of qualifications. The product generates strong gross margins and will be sold through EDI's existing channels providing a significant opportunity to generate additional revenues and add to overall Group profitability."
