Fundamental to individuals being able to use Mathematics effectively in life and work is their ability to understand and make sense of mathematical information, to use and process that information, to interpret and analyse the results of their activity and to present this to others. These process skills form the basis of the Functional Skills standards to Mathematics and apply at all levels.
Functional Skills Standards
Mathematics assessments are assessed at Entry Level 1, 2, 3 and Level 1 and 2.
Assessments at Entry Level are available in the following three formats:
- On-screen (marked by EDI)
- Paper-based (marked by Centre, moderated by EDI)
- Contextualised paper-based (marked by Centre, moderated by EDI)
Assessments at Level 1 and Level 2 are available on-screen and paper-based. Both are marked by EDI.
All levels are available on demand for Centres approved by EDI to deliver Functional Skills. EDI requires 24 hours' notice for on-screen assessments, 12 calendar days' notice for paper-based assessments and 12 weeks notice for contextualised paper-based assessments.
The assessment criteria information sheet details the assessment criteria at each level together with the assessment delivery method used by EDI.
